Tomato sauce. I'm here, I'm referring to the original type that you make yourself by slowly cooking tomatoes, as opposed to bright red tomatoes that are ready to use in sachets or bottles.

I paired this ketchup with Romania gnocchi because it's a fairly rich and cheesy gnocchi, but you can use this sauce with regular gnocchi or pasta if you want!

Ingredients:
1 amount Romania gnocchi
2 x 400 grams canned tomatoes
2 onions peeled and finely chopped
2 cloves garlic
peeled and finely chopped
4 tablespoon chopped fresh basil leaves
50 grams grated Parmesan
extra virgin olive oil

Method:
Steps 1.
Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet, then add the onions and cook on low heat until soft and translucent.
Steps 2.
Add the garlic and continue to cook until the onions start to color.
Steps 3.
Add tomatoes, then basil, stir, then add salt and pepper to taste.
Steps 4.
Cover and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes become a thick sauce.
Steps 5.
Remove from heat and keep warm.
Steps 6.
Cook Romania Gnocchi.
Steps 7.
Place the gnocchi on a serving plate, then drizzle with tomato sauce. Serve hot!
